Japan Workshops

As part of its activities, Japan Desk Scotland runs Japan-themed workshops at primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities and museums in Glasgow and beyond.

Japan@Strathclyde‘ is a series of workshops on Japan held at University of Strathclyde.

Kimono workshop was held at the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in September 2014.

JDS also organised workshops on Fukushima: ‘Fukushima, Hiroshima, Fukushima‘ in 2014 and again in 2015, and ‘Fukushima talk at Cumbernauld High School‘.

JDS’s Japan-themed workshop is tailor-made to meet specific needs, but JDS’s regular menu includes singing Japanese songs, teaching basic Japanese phrases, origami, kimono, tea ceremony, Japanese calligraphy, showing DVDs on Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 2011, Fukushima nuclear power plan accident, a talk on Japan, and Q&A on Japan.

JDS used to hold Japan-themed workshops at the Celtic Learning Centre, a joint activity between the Celtic Football Club and Glasgow City Council, with financial support from the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation and the Embassy of Japan in the UK. This was reported in the Embassy’s home page.
