To mark the fourth anniversary of the Tohoku (East Japan) Earthquake, this special Japan Matters event was held jointly by Japanese Matsuri for Glasgow and Japan Desk Scotland, with grant from the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation. It was supported by Wellington Church.
Japan Desk Scotland’s third documentary on Fukushima, ‘Here and there in Fukushima‘, was screened, and ‘Tsunami’ hymn written by Rev David Sinclair, Wellington Church, was sung. He also offered a prayer.
£105 was raised at the event, which has been sent by JMG to Kunohe Village Office, Iwate, Japan, with which JMG has developed exchanges over the years. Kunohe Village Office, in turn, has sent it to its neighbouring Noda and Fudai Village Offices, both affected by the tsunami.
Wednesday 11 March 2015 from 6.30pm
Wellington Church, 77 Southpark Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8LE
The event was free and open to the public.
